With return flights canceled and their budgets exhausted, stranded tourists face boundless anxiety.
In this difficult crisis, Moroccans show their support for the national values of hospitality and generosity.
In the city of Fez, the five-star Riad Arabesque has decided to offer free accommodation and meals to all tourists stranded in the spiritual capital of Morocco as an initiative that not only shows the warmth and kindness of the Moroccan people, but also the solidarity that people should build in times of crisis.
"We had the idea of opening our doors for free to tourists as soon as we learned of the cancellation of all international flights," said hotel manager Jaafar Benamour to MWN.
"Knowing what these people are going through, we cannot help them, but we provide support so that they can return to their country," said Benamour.
"After checking the canceled tickets, tourists are invited to stay until new flights are available," he added.
The hotel is now welcoming a British couple and is willing to offer four or five additional rooms for free to help stranded tourists.
Benamour explained that in addition to showing hospitality, tourist accommodation has also put in place several guarantees against COVID-19.
"Only six to eight people work at the hotel at the same time. They also want to comply with all hygiene recommendations and keep a safe distance between them."
