The famous Lonely Planet travel guide has just released its ranking of the 10 cities to visit in 2019.and the Moroccan city of Meknes ranked 10th in the list.

"The famous warlike sultan who moved the Moroccan capital to Meknes in 1672 would turn in his grave if he knew how few visitors the city receives today compared to Fez and Marrakech," wrote the tourist guide, recalling the epic of Sultan Mulay Ismaïl who made Meknes an imperial city by bringing "stone and marble" from the Marrakchi palaces and Roman ruins of Volubilis, and by building the famous "thick fortifications that still surround the city".

The source added that Lonely Planet experts traveled the entire world in search of destinations that should not be missed in the coming future. 

The list included Copenhagen, Denmark(1st); Shenzhen, China (2nd); Novi Sad, Serbia (3rd); Miami, the US (4th); and Kathmandu, Nepal (5th), Mexico City(6th);  Dakar, Senegal( 7th); Seattle, Washington (8th);  and Zadar, Croatia( 9th) and in last, Meknes as cities to visit in 2019.

In this guide, Meknes shows a reflection of the sun's reflection on the Bab Mansour, increasing its golden arch and making it among the best cities for 2019.

The city of Meknes, northeast of the Kingdom of Morocco, 140 km east of the capital Rabat, and the most important monuments that amaze tourists Bab al-Mansour huge famous mosaic inscriptions and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the mosque of Burima, Sidi Othman, and the University Palace, which is a museum of Moroccan art.
